The Policy and Regulation Initiative for Digital Africa (PRIDA) project will be supplemented by a digital platform that aims to serve as a secured virtual space for African Experts and Policy makers to undertake consultations and exchange of best practices on digital policy issues that engage African nations at international level.
The PRIDA digital platform is intended to become, in the coming years, a common information center for all national, regional and continental related ICT& Digital Policies, Legislations and Regulations. Among its functions it will provide a space and tools to support harmonization of ICT& telecommunication policies and regulations as well as a mechanism to collect ICT & Internet data to undertake statistics and situation analysis to effectively monitor and evaluate the progress of African countries with regard to broadband penetration and their preparedness to Digital Transformation.
The continental digital platform will ensure the sustainability of PRIDA project beyond 2021 by supporting policy development processes in Africa as well as strengthening the cooperation and collaboration on regulatory issues between national telecommunications regulatory authorities (NRAs), regional Association of regulators. It will play a critical role for connecting African experts and different stakeholders to enhance Digital Cooperation and facilitate the development of Africa Common positions on Internet Governance and relevant digital policy matters.
PRIDA online platform will keep AU Member States and Regional Organisations updated about the latest developments in the ICT sector and other emerging technologies through continuous online trainings and webinars.
